Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
A modern and contemporary art museum on the Øresund coast about 35 km north of Copenhagen, reached by train to Humlebæk station. Low glass corridors link the galleries to a seaside sculpture park, and a ticket is needed even to enter the café, shop or park.
The Gefion Fountain (Gefionspringvandet)
A large bronze fountain by Kastellet showing the Norse goddess Gefjon driving four oxen — her sons in the myth in which she ploughs the island of Zealand out of Swedish soil. Sculpted by Anders Bundgaard and first switched on in 1908, it sits a short walk from The Little Mermaid and is often used as a wishing well.
Cisternerne (The Cisterns)
A former underground drinking-water reservoir beneath Søndermarken park, now a venue for site-specific contemporary art in dripping, near-dark vaulted chambers. It stays cold and damp all year, so bring a jacket.
Home of Carlsberg
The Carlsberg brewery visitor experience in Carlsberg Byen, which closed for modernisation in 2018 and reopened under this name on 1 December 2023 — older guides still call it Visit Carlsberg. The standard ticket includes a 40 cl draught beer, soda or water, with beer tastings and cellar tours as paid add-ons.
Reffen — Copenhagen Street Food
An open-air street food market of shipping-container kitchens and bars on the Refshaleøen waterfront, about 25 minutes by bike or harbour bus from the centre. It is seasonal — the main season runs from mid-March to the end of September, with extra autumn and Christmas programming — so check the opening hours before you travel.
